Common Eye Conditions Linked to Weak Muscles
What’s the fastest reacting muscle on your body? You guessed it – it’s your eyes! Did you know that they move about 100,000 times per day?
Not only are your eye muscles fast, but they are also extremely strong. Although you may feel tired sometimes, your eyes never tire out. They’re on and ready to go 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Why is this? They produce a special protein that prevents them from getting tired.

It is possible, however, for some people to have weaker eye muscles than others. You may need to strengthen your eye muscles if you have:
- Lazy Eye
- Astigmatism
- Cataracts
- Nearsightedness or Farsightedness
There are a number of exercises available that can help you regain their strength if you suffer from one of the above conditions. LIVESTRONG recommends the following each day:
- Eye Circles: Sit down and move your eyes around in a clockwise direction 20 times
- Moving Pen: Hold a pen upright in front of your eyes and bring it slowly towards your eyes. Focus for 10 seconds
