What to Expect During LASIK Surgery
We admit it, laser eye surgery can sound a little scary when you don’t know the facts. The truth is, there is actually nothing to be afraid of. The name may evoke fear, but the process is simple and pain-free!
Don’t believe us? Here is what happens during a LASIK surgery procedure:
- In preparation for your surgery, your surgeon will administer anesthetic eye drops to numb your eyes. This way, the only thing you will feel is slight pressure.
- During the procedure, your eye will be held open to prevent you from blinking. Typically, the procedure is no more than 5 to 7 minutes per eye.
- After the surgery, your eyes may feel uncomfortable (as if something is in it), but this feeling subsides after a few hours
Many people express concern about pain during LASIK, which prevents them from going through with it. Fortunately, aside from slight pressure and mild discomfort afterwards, you have absolutely nothing to worry about! Don’t let your fear stop you from experiencing a life without the burden of glasses and contacts.
