Meet Our Staff
Brittany Skarren, Patient Coordinator
Brittany joined Eye Lasik Austin in 2015 and will likely be the first member of our team you will meet when you arrive. Whether on the phones or at the front desk, she is dedicated to taking great care of you as our patient. She loves the challenge of making sure you find the best time slot and works hard to ensure your experience is among the best you have ever had at a doctor’s office. She will be the one who will walk you through our check –in process, scheduling your appropriate appointments for surgery, and help with ordering your required medications.
Outside of the office, Brittany loves spending time with her dog , watching movies or spending time with family and friends.
Johan Gonzalez, Surgical Technician
Johan, our newest staff member, guides you through the consult process by scanning your eyes with our advanced equipment to ensure that LASIK is not only going to be effective at correcting your vision but also safe, a key priority here at Eye LASIK Austin. On surgery day, he will be the one to prepare you for surgery and discharge you, ensuring the entire process is easy, smooth, and relaxing. Johan también habla español y está disponible para ayudar a los hispanohablantes con cualquier duda. (Translation: Johan also speaks Spanish and is available to help Spanish speakers with any question.)
He is a native Austinite who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2016 with a degree in Biology and a minor in Social Inequality, Health and Policy. His two dogs keep him happily busy and enjoys taking them out to Austin’s parks and greenbelts. Eventually, he plans to become a physician assistant but in the meantime he strives to become an amateur master chef and learn how to play the guitar.
Kim Elliott, Surgical Coordinator
With 12 years experience in Ophthalmology, Kim is ready to answer all your LASIK questions during your complimentary consultation. She is there to help coordinate your LASIK procedure and offer any assistance along the way. On the day of your procedure you may see her making sure the laser is perfectly calibrated or at least hear her counting down your treatment.
After graduating from Indiana University she found her way to Austin 8 years ago. She is originally from Chicago and came to Texas for the weather and stayed for all the fun Austin has to offer. You may see her out and about in east Austin enjoying the local music scene.
Chad Jackson, Center Director
Chad’s passion to help patient’s see better began in high school when he worked for an optometrist in Lakeway. After completing his college career, in May of 2000 he helped us open the doors of Eye LASIK Austin. Since then, Chad has become widely known as one of the innovators in the management of surgical facilities and patient care. Not only does he take pride in delivering the highest level of care to the patients at Eye LASIK Austin, but he lectures around the country on improving patient care and the patient experience. When you visit Eye LASIK Austin, don’t hesitate to let him know if you have any questions or concerns about surgery. He had his own LASIK done in 1998, so he has been there. It will be his voice, along with your surgeon’s that will coach you through your entire procedure.
When not at work, Chad also is the Camp Director for Teen Reach Adventure Camp - a camp for teen is foster care. He is a licensed pastor and spent over 10 years as a youth pastor. He and his wife Sarah live in Cedar Park, and are active partners at Austin Stone Community Church.
